The August Youth Forum was held to commemorate the International Youth Day – 12th August. The theme was “Depression Amongst Youths ;a social malady…
Speakers present in the event were:
1. Dr.Ekene Cosmos, Director, BLAS Innovative Minds (focused on SDG 3 and 4), a doctor at Imo State University Teaching Hospital. He spoke on the topic:
Health Implications and Possible Solutions for Depression.
2. Mr. Darlington NWOSU, Campus Minister Church of Christ FEDPONEK. A final year student of Chemistry Department. He has a passion for youth liberation. Theme Analyst. He also performed free blood pressure (B.P) checks at the event.
3. Ms. Chinwe Ikpeoha, a graduate of Cooperative Economics, currently an advocate for Women and Children Emancipation. She spoke on the topic: Depression via Relationships, family and social issues.
The State Coordinator gave a brief introduction of OVIWCE. After which there was an interactive session where everyone was opportuned to discuss their passion as it relates to society and possible ways of achieving them.
Those who indicated interest in the organisation were given the volunteer agreement forms (their contacts were also gotten).
The She Needs A Pad (S.N.A.P) Project was introduced and a call for donations and partnership was made.
BLAS Innovative Minds offered to partner with OVIWCE in subsequent outreaches and also offered to donate pads and provide professional aid for the SNAP Project.
A number of people made pledges and their names and contact were gotten.
A lot of people benefited from the free Blood Pressure check that happened after the program and a lot of people went with smiles on their faces.
