With Human Papillomavirus Infection (HPV) implicated in up to 90% of cervical cancer cases, the scourge is on the rise. This was a drive for a cervical cancer screening program organized by FUTA Women’s Forum. The screening and sensitization was performed by Health Education for Women and Aged Initiative with members of One Voice Initiative Ondo State on Site to help out in the outreach.
The 3-day even which commenced on Wednesday, 4th July 2018 and came to a close Friday, 6th July 2018, was aimed at creating awareness and giving people the opportunity to know their status with emphasis on the fact that cervical cancer kills faster than breast cancer.
It began with intense sensitization which encouraged both young and old females come en masse to get tested. The event took place at the University Health Centre and about 1000 people were tested.
